When researchers at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine conducted their groundbreaking biomonitoring study to determine human exposure to synthetic chemicals, the results were alarming.  The healthy individuals tested carried an average of 91 industrial compounds and other pollutants inside their bodies.  Of the more than 150 chemicals found, 76 were known carcinogens, and 79 have been linked to birth defects or other developmental disorders.

All experts agree that children, especially babies, face the greatest risk from chemical exposure.  Kids’ small bodies and underdeveloped immune system have a more difficult time filtering out pollutants than those of older individuals.  Toxins that build up in the body during these critical development years can continue to affect a person for the rest of his or her life.

It’s imperative to get the toxic cleaning and personal care products out of your home and replace them with safer, environmentally friendly products.  Our kids need us to be proactive!   Learn more.

The Importance of Preventative Heart Health

Heart Health

Heart disease affects the heart, and includes coronary heart disease, heart attack, congestive heart failure, high blood pressure and congenital heart disease.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the U.S. which is why prevention is so very important!

Keys to prevention include reducing cholesterol, controlling high blood pressure, quitting smoking, maintaining a healthy weight by incorporating heart-healthy eating habits which include adequate fiber and healthy fats, and effectively exercising most days of the week.

This topic is especially important to me because heart disease runs very strong in my husband’s family and I recently learned that my brother’s friend died at age 39 of a heart attack and my cousin’s husband just had a heart attack at the young age of 42! (Thankfully he is going to be ok!)

I feel very fortunate that the company I work with is the leader in natural heart health and that myself, my handsome hubby and our precious kids all get to benefit from their products.  I feel a responsibility to share this info with others who may not otherwise ever hear about it.

Good Friends Are the Secret to Long Life

We all know that exercise, diet, and stress are factors in the longevity equation. But pals? Researchers at Brigham Young University analyzed the results of 148 studies (involving more than 300,000 participants) and found that people with strong social ties have a 50 percent lower risk of dying. In fact, the researchers concluded that having good friends can extend your life to the same degree as quitting smoking.
